Love these! And yes, I know a couple of signs are missing, but this was what was posted :) -Wendy

From Waymarking:

Each of the twelve corners of the landmark 1930s building is decorated by a bronze plaque, which represents a sign of the zodiac. These plaques were created by sculptor Alfonso Iannelli.

Six of the reliefs are visible from the outside: Cancer, Gemini, Taurus, Aries, Pisces and Aquarius. Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpius, Sagittarius and Capricornus are on the inside. His last name [Iannelli] is engraved on Leo.

Style: Art Deco
Structure Type: Culture/Entertainment
Architect: Iannelli, Alfonso, 1888-1965, sculptor.
Date Built: 1929-30

Sculptures, Böttcherstraße Bremen, Germany
Photos by Wendy Darling

Three more sculptures founds in the project. A few must be by Bernhard Hoetger. Particularly with the stone piece, you can see why the project and its art was eventually labeled by the Nazis as "degenerate art." It’s not “beautiful” and presents distortion instead of presenting ideals.

Sculptures, Paula-Becker-Modersohn Haus, Böttcherstraße Bremen, Germany
Photos by Wendy Darling

The first two sculptures are in the vestibule of the building, while the bust of Roselius (posted earlier, by different photographer) is outside. All are I believe by Bernhard Hoetger, the artistic director of the project.

Böttcherstraße, Bremen, GermanyPhoto by Wendy Darling
The entrance to Böttcherstraße, just a block off the Bremer Marktplatz (main city plaza).
From Böttcherstrasse.de:

The “Lichtbringer” [“Lightbringer”] by [Bernhard] Hoetger, an impressive golden relief plate, marks the entrance to Bremen’s “secret main street” with the red brick architecture typical of the 1920s.

Art Deco eagle on the exterior.
From Flickr:

At first I was mystified why I could not find this on Google Maps streetview. All I saw was an archer statue where I could have swarn this statue was. Once I got a look at a photo gallery of the area I came to realize this was the base for that archer statue. When I took this picture I saw no trace of the archer, not even his feet. I wasn’t able to find the name of this work, but it was done by Carl Milles.
