MSU Facts offers up this backgrounder on the Michigan State Band Shell…
It’s an established fact that a graduating class will raise money to present the university with a class gift. Notable class gifts that still stand today at our campus include “The Rock” (Class of 1873) and the previously mentioned drinking fountain for horses (Class of 1900).

It may not be Deco but it’s a remnant of a WPA architecture project and I like, so… posting it :)
This sculpture by the Music Building is all that remains from the band shell that once stood where Bessey is today. This piece (as well as many other works of art on MSU’s campus) was part of a WPA commission by the university during the Great Depression. It was sculpted by Samuel Cashwan.
