Fairlie-Poplar District, Atlanta, GAby Blackthroated Blue
Great shot taken one block over from where I’m sitting in my office writing this. If you’re trying to place the POV, this is Fairlie Street over by Marietta Street, looking north at the back of the Beaux Arts courthouse and in the distance 191 Peachtree. The building this Deco lamp is set up isn’t actually Deco but a little older than that.

Southern Bell Telephone Company Building, Atlanta, GAby thirtyframes
Another Downtown Atlanta building I’ve shared before, the old Southern Bell building, now known as 51 Peachtree Center Ave. More pictures of the building here. I wait at the bus stop next to this one every day.

Exterior, Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Building, Atlanta, GA
by National Register of Historic Places

Three more exteriors from the NRHP. I am a great fan of symmetry and this building has it in spades. The building has matching, symmetrical entrances on two streets, one on Forsyth Street, the other on Spring.

For background information on this building, see the prior posts or find info on the GSA web site.

This diamond (chevron?) pattern is carved into the edge of all the rooflines on all sides. It sort of seems like a bit of an abstract federal eagle.
