And now we dive back into historic photos. I always love a good dive!
Here is a view of the Bronx, specifically Virginia Avenue at Hugh J. Grant Circle, looking to the Northwest.
A few details from NYPL:

Another view of this same building here.
Meanwhile, I think I found the location on Google Street View, although the building is now gone. Just compare the brick apartments in the background and they’re the same; plus this is looking NW of the circle.

My mom was born in 1936 and grew up in the Bronx. Her father was an apartment superintendant for decades. Therefore I find 1930s Bronx apartment building pics cool. Oh, and yes, this one is still there,  a couple of blocks north of the Cross-Bronx Expressway.

1150 Grand Concourse, Bronx, New Yorkfrom TheBronxRocks
My mom grew up in the Bronx in the 1930s. I wonder if she would recognize this building if I described it to her. She has a wicked eye for detail and a long, long memory.
From the blog:

This building stopped me in my tracks while walking along the Grand Concourse… Two residents were very willing and eager to show off their building, telling me that it draws architecture students from all over and was featured a decade ago in the New York Times (see article).   They said locals refer to it as the “Fish House” due to an elaborate mosaic on the facade of the building.
