Facade, McGraw Hill Building, Chicago, Illinois
by Terence Faircloth

From Flickr:

Art Deco bas reliefs from the facade of the landmark McGraw Hill Building on North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. The building was rebuilt several years ago; in the rebuilding process the complete facade was dismantled and later re-applied to the new building. These panels and other ornamentation were the reason for the facade transplant.

I wonder if those horitontal lines were there in the panels before the “transplant” or if they were so prominent? Not that it takes away much from these classic panels.
