Vintage Oregon Postcard: “State Capitol, looking South from Capitol Boulevard, Salem, Oregon” —- Photo by Wesley Andrews.
Great 1930s “linen” postcard in very good condition; this card was never posted, and it doesn’t have any writing on the back. Nice colorful vintage scenic view of the art deco Oregon State Capitol from the Mall.
I’ll also mention that this vendor has some very nice, quality vintage cards, many unused.
Views from the Georgia State Capitol, Atlanta, Georgia
from Library of Congress
From a large set of Historic American Buildings Survey photos of the Capitol, these are photos taken from high up on the Gold Dome looking out around Downtown Atlanta. Sharing them both for the unique perspective and the fact you can see several nearby Deco buildings, i.e. the 1940s/1950s state office buildings, as well as Atlanta’s Deco-Gothic City Hall.
Nebraska State Capitol, Lincoln, Nebraska

Another, closer shot of the NE capitol.
Artist note (again cracking me up):
This is the Nebraska State Capitol building. I think it’s pretty neat looking. It is the tallest building in Lincoln, Nebraska. It is also home to the only unicameral legislative body in the United States (Before you run to grab your dictionaries, it means there is only one legislative house, a senate).
This building is also know by some as the Penis of the Prarie. Interestingly enough, so are some of the polititians who serve there.

One of several Art Deco state capitols in the U.S.
Artist note (cracks me up):
Here is it again. The great Penis of the Prarie. Actully, it’s a beautiful beautiful building. You can see it form miles away, almost 20 miles away, in fact. Of course, nothing much here grows higher than corn stocks, so there really isn’t much to block the view.

This building seems to be referencing the Lighthouse of Alexandria.
