Ideal House, London England
For my London entry, of course I have to put one of my favorite Deco buildings ever, because it’s black and gold and while I find the combo tacky most everywhere, I love it on Deco buildings. Meanwhile, this building actually stopped me in my tracks while walking in London: “Oh WOW.” And further, designed by Raymond Hood, famous for the RCA (G.E.) Building, among several outstanding examples.
Ideal House was designed by Raymond Hood in 1928 for the American Radiator Company’s London Headquarters. The color scheme matches their corporate livery and their headquarters in New York City (also designed by Raymond Hood). It is a Grade II Listed building and sits right across the street from the Tudor Revival Liberty building.
