Old Dearborn Bank Building, Chicago, Illinois
by Terence Faircloth
Breathtaking detail at the top of the building. (Remember: You can’t see this from the street, only from another skyscraper. I learned this one by living high up across from an 1890s building and seeing more detail, invisible from the street, every day.)
South elevation of the Old Dearborn Bank Building at 203 North Wabash Avenue. Seen from the roof of the MDA Chicago Apartments as part of the Open House Chicago 2011 event arranged by the Chicago Architecture Foundation.
The architects, C.W. Rapp and George L. Rapp, were better known for designing movie theaters; the iconography of the figures at center top was a theme found more frequently in movie theaters than office buildings.
